Kedarnath Destination




Being a religious destination, majority of the sightseeing locations at Kedarnath have mythological connotations, especially from the Mahabharata epic. Still, these majestic places attract pilgrims and tourists alike who make sure to stopover at these places when visiting the holy town of Kedarnath.




Gandhi Sarovar


Gandhi Sarovar is a small lake holding crystal clear water. Gandhi Sarovar is also known as Chorabari Tal because it is situated on the mouth of Chorabari Bamak glacier. Gandhi Sarovar lies on the foot of Kedarnath and Kirthi Stambh peak at an astounding altitude of 3,900mts above sea level.



Phata


Phata is a small village located in route to Kedarnath, Uttarakhand. A strategically and commercially situated on the Gopeshwar- Gaurikund road, Phata is famous for having a helipad used by pilgrims visiting Kedarnath Dham.



Sonprayag


Sonprayag is a place of religious significance located in-route to Kedarnath Dham. 'Prayag' means confluence and Sonprayag lies at the confluence of two holy rivers Basuki and Mandakini.



Gaurikund Temple


Gaurikund temple is a temple dedicated to Goddess Parvati, also known as Gauri. According to myths and legends, this is the place where Goddess Parvati, the wife of Lord Shiva did penance involving ascetic and yoga practices to win over Shiva's heart.

Gaurikund


Gaurikund is the commencement point of the trek of 16 kms to the sacred shrine of Kedarnath. It is situated at an elevation of 1,982 mts above sea level. The place is named after Goddess Parvati, wife of Lord Shiva and a temple Gauri is also situated here.



Vasuki Tal Lake


Vasuki Tal or Vasuki Taal is a high glacial lake situated at an impressive altitude of 14,200 feet above sea level in Kedarnath Dham of Uttarakhand. One can spot Brahma Kamal and other Himalayan flowers blooming around the placid lake, making the aura divine.
